08.00 – 17.00 IO Planning Scenarios and War Games | Operating Theatre: Afghanistan

Attending delegates will receive a mission briefing at the beginning of the day and then be divided into smaller groups of approximately 8, with an experienced mentor assigned to each group.

The war games are based on operations in Afghanistan with a scenario in which NATO forces are due to withdraw within 18 months. Members of each team will be tasked to plan an information campaign to minimize the strength and influence of the Taliban, to build the strength of the local police force and military, and to foster support for NATO forces amongst the Afghan population. A change to the operating environment will be introduced mid-way through the war game and there will be a session at the end of the day for feedback, conclusions and lessons to be shared.

The day will be hosted by the conference chairman Simon Bergman (Director, Information Options) and designed by Lt Col Saar Raveh (Res), IDF and Colonel, Dr. Barak Ben-Tzur (Res), IDF. The group mentors will be announced on the conference website www.info-opseurope.com.
